Practising with backing tracks (and enjoying open mic sessions) is a great confidence booster to prepare for playing live with other people. We teach you everything you need to have fun playing music in a live group setting.
STEP 4. Turbocharge your skills:
Next you will want to gain some higher-level skills like note bending, improvising, playing in other keys, playing different styles of music, and playing more interesting tunes. We will hold your hand all the way through!
STEP 5. Finally, you will want to think about performance and musicality. Even if you are 'just’ performing Happy Birthday, or playing at a Jam Session, you will need to know how to become confident, to stand out from the crowd, and not make a complete arse of yourself. You can do it!

This program is 80% prerecorded 124 video courses (1240 lessons) + 20 books (1000 lessons) set out in a structured order. Great song to learn. What we will do here is to begin by learning how to play and recognise the chords in the music on our C diatonic Harmonicas and then apply some rhythm to those chords.
In other words, we will be taking on the role of a rhythm guitarist, listening to the players' tracks, and isolating each one to find out what we want to use to play rhythm, harmonica, or comping, we might call it.
We will play along with the band in many different versions of their performance.
And finally, we will learn the tunes and melodies, the baseline, and use a G blues scale and a D minor pentatonic scale to improvise with.
So the end result should be a fantastic workout, and it's an easy song to play, so you should be able to play this live with bands, as it's a well-known piece. Good luck and have fun!

Sean teaches and demonstrates the use of the Tremolo harmonica (plus other harmonicas) in Folk Music in the contempary scene. Sean Spicer performs traditional English and Irish music on a variety of harmonicas. An alumnus of the National Youth Folk Ensemble, he is a Comhaltas All-Britain champion and All-Ireland finalist, and was HarmonicaUK's diatonic melodic champion in 2023. Sean performs regularly in his home city of Bristol, as well as at festivals and folk clubs across the country.
